I am writing this letter to thank Bill Sopko and all of the employees at Landmasters.
They did a fabulous job on a very complicated high-end house in Northern New Jersey. The dry-laid fieldstone walls that your fellows built have received many compliments from the neighbors and a lot of inquiries from passers-by.
Our job involved hundreds of feet of these walls, numerous slate decks, and a lot of natural stone steps to connect different levels.
All of this complicated layout was done to perfection by Bill and his crew. When the plantings were put in and the job completed, the house looked like it had been there for years.
That was our goal since we built a brand-new victorian to look like it was 100 years old.
Our town is notorious for being difficult for contractors to work in, but there were no problems at all.
Not only did these guys do such fine quality work, they did it in a price structure that was very competitive and they were a pleasure to work with.
Landmasters also did another job for us in Buck Hill Falls Pa. The job was a lot less extensive than the one in Northern New Jersey but it was done with the same level of excellence. We could not be more satisfied.

We first met Bill in the Winter of 2005/6, walking around our unfinished house in 6 inches of snow.
At that time we were looking for ideas to transform our steeply sloping backyard into a stone patio and walkway to a second patio below.
We felt immediately comfortable with Bill's ideas, he took the time to listen to our thoughts and incorporate them into his suggestions, and with his initial design.
The use of natural stone to blend into the surrounding landscape was very important to us and this was exactly the proposal we were looking for.
Over the next few months, while we waited for our home to be finished, we grew more ambitious. From the moment we met Bill we were at ease with him, and we felt that if we were going to start a landscape job, why not finish it!
So from the initial patio and walkway plan we extended to include the front and sides of the property, a paver driveway, and stone pillars at the entrance. We walked the property again, without the snow this time, and talked enthusiastically about our ideas.
If we had any doubts before ì they were gone. Bill is a man with a true passion for his work, and a flair for seeing striking yet simple designs in apparently featureless land.
The final design drawing was truly excellent, encompassing every aspect of our thoughts and then improving on them! So far so good! However the proof of the pudding is always in the eating.
Bill told us how long the job would take and when he could start. He and his staff started on time, worked long and hard every day, kept us up to date with progress reports, and finished an excellent job right on schedule.
Every member of the Landmasters company was professional and a pleasure to know. From the time the job started until now - 18 months later, we could not be more satisfied with our landscaping.
It is visually striking yet totally in keeping with the surrounding environment.

Dear Bill,
The transformation of my property at Boulder Point on Lake Wallenpaupack from problematic to showcase in a little over two months is astonishing.The applicable Latin phrase is mirabile dictu (wonder to behold).
As you know, I bought the lake house three years ago and totally renovated the house. Alas, exterior conditions negated the dramatic architectural changes. To wit, the house sits at the bottom of a severely sloped driveway.
Because of the slope, the extensive trees and plantings I installed on both sides of the driveway quickly drained after it rained. Consequently, the greenery was dying and the apron at the foot of the driveway turned into a mud pit.
Also, the pathways on both sides of the house were cramped and mean, with zero visual eye appeal. And the pathway from the rear of the house to the dock at lakeside had so grown over it was scarcely discernable.
Earlier this summer my real estate broker took me to see some of your work at Whispering Pines, directly across the lake.
The scale, majesty and surprise of your stonework were overwhelmingly beautiful and ignited hope that you could do the same for me, and turn my landscape problems into a strong positive.
You cobble-stoned the driveway, reshaped the descending gardens alongside and substantially increased the size of the apron in front of the garage-making it every bit as impressive as an entryway to a grand French chateau.
By terracing the gardens, and your substantial use of dry-set stonewalls, you’ve cured all the drainage problems while providing an emblematic example of what fine stone masonry can achieve.
You greatly widened the paths around the house and the extensive flagstone is a real tour de force; you have made an almost unbelievable impact on the landscape, the total transformation you attained with vision, planning, hard work and the simplest gift of nature: rock!

We did a lot of research, and interviewed numerous landscape designers and contractors we felt were qualified to do our project.
